The Broward County Association of Media Specialists (BCAMS) is holding a reception to welcome our new Superintendent, Robert W. Runcie. During the reception, the members of BCAMS will conduct a presentation,“Get On Board with 21st Century Learning!” which will showcase how library media programs impact student achievement as well as how library media specialists will become even more essential to the development of the inquiry, literacy, and lifelong learning skills students need to become college and career ready.

The event will be held on Wednesday, February 1st from 5:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at Virginia Shuman Young Elementary School’s Media Center.  Please dress professionally.

It is imperative that we have a large turnout for this event as there will be media coverage. We ask that you invite your administrator(s) as well as co-workers, parents, and students.  We need as much support as possible!  It is also imperative that every library media specialist creates a project board. During the beginning of the event, Superintendent Runcie and board members will have the opportunity to walk around and visit each library media specialist’s board.  We hope that you bring other types of positive support/documentation/artifacts/technology showing 21st Century events in your media center.

ALL MEDIA SPECIALISTS WORKING IN BROWARD COUNTY ARE WELCOME TO ATTEND!

Reading Motivation

Florida Teen Reads the mission of the program is to encourage Florida teens to read enjoyable, quality literature that will stimulate imagination, awaken curiosity, expand horizons, enhance verbal fluency, and foster critical thinking and a lifelong love for reading and learning.

The purpose of the Sunshine State Young Reader's Award Program is to encourage students in grades 3-8 to read independently for personal satisfaction, based on interest rather than reading level.
